DPF Servicing & Cleaning in Cambridge

Modern diesel cars have a diesel particulate filter (DPF) to reduce the pollution these cars can cause. However, if not properly maintained there could be serious consequences for your car.

Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Cleaning

What is a diesel particulate filter?

A diesel particulate filter (sometimes referred to as soot traps) captures and stores exhaust soot to help reduce the emission from diesel cars. DPFs only have a limited capacity so this trapped soot has to be periodically emptied or 'burned off' is a process called 'regeneration'. This regeneration process is automated by the engine management systems and cleanly burns off the excess soot collected by the filter, reducing the harmful exhaust emissions and also helping prevent black smoke sometimes seen on diesel vehicles under acceleration.

What could cause a diesel particulate filter to become blocked?

The regeneration process described above only occurs at high speeds, for instance on a motorway. If your car does only short journeys at low speeds then the DPF can become blocked. Poor or infrequent servicing of your diesel car can also increase the chances of a blocked diesel particulate filter.

Can You Clean My DPF?

DPF cleaning involves chemical or high powered jet water cleaning to remove all the soot from the filter. We provide DPF cleaning services using the latest DPF cleaning machines from Carbon Clean Ltd, who are at the forefront of carbon cleaning technology. We can clean and clear your blocked DPF for a fraction of the cost of a new filter.
